Friends of Five Points News
May 2015
Dear Friends of Five Points,
Happy Summer! I hope that everyone is having a fun, relaxing, and safe holiday weekend.
Your Friends of Five Points Board has been busy this spring, hosting two major neighborhood events. The first one, the tenth annual FOFP Easter Egg Hunt, was held on April 4. This event, organized by Board member Sara Beresford with help from a number of community volunteers, continues to grow in popularity. Thank you so much to all of our volunteers who helped to make this event a success!
Last week Friends of Five Points hosted its first Five Points Pub Crawl, and it was a huge, sold-out success. Many thanks are in order to our business partners — Marker 7 Coastal Grill, The Pine, and Your Pie — for providing wonderful drink and appetizer specials. We also appreciated the live music from Louis Phillip Pelot ofLeaving Countries on Your Pie’s lovely back porch. Special thanks go to Board members Sara Beresford, who handled the ticket sales, Kevin Florence, who handled event insurance, and Paige Cummings and Kristen Nielsen, who managed the check-in. Extra special thanks go to Hank Qadir, past FOFP Board President, for coordinating with the businesses.
There was much consensus among those in attendance that we need to have neighborhood gatherings like that more often, so I hope more members will come forward to help organize them!
Finally, if you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to become a member of Friends of Five Points. Dues are $10 per year per family or $25 for three years. If you would like to check the status of your membership, there’s an easy link to do so at our website, www.friendsoffivepoints.org. Just click on the “Membership” tab and scroll down to “Check Your Membership Status.” You can look up your address and see when your membership is up for renewal.
Sincerely,
Alice Kinman
FOFP Board Chair
P.S. A reminder to Pub Crawl attenders: use your red bracelet to get 15% off over-the-counter items from Hodgson’s Pharmacy! Thanks Hodgson’s!
